A FEW LINES ABOUT THIS LANDMARK

The Sydney Harbour Bridge has a long planning history spanning over more than 100 years. From a pure idea proposed in 1815 by the Australia's first Government Architect Francis Greenway to link the North Shore to Sydney all the way through numerous proposals during the 19th century till 1922 when the Sydney Harbour Bridge Act No. 28 was passed for the construction of a high-level cantilever or arch bridge across Sydney Harbour by connecting Dawes Point with Milson's Point. The single-arch design, resembling the New York City's Hell Gate Bridge, won the tender and the building works lasted from 1923 to 1932.
