MODEL BUILDING TIPS

This model will require more than one sitting to build it. We advise to pause between different stages as you work, especially when you come to gluing. The white glue softens the paper and it may lead to misshapen parts if you do not allow them to dry well before proceeding further with assembling. Click here to watch our paper model building tips.

Give yourself enough time to enjoy the process and achieve the best result!

ABOUT THIS LANDMARK

Gate Bridge, the single-arch design was selected, and construction commenced in 1923, lasting until 1932.

Designed by the British firm Dorman Long and Co Ltd. of Middlesbrough, under the leadership of Dr. J.C.C. Bradfield, chief engineer of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Metropolitan Railway Construction, the bridge is a steel through arch bridge, noted for its unique and striking design. Approximately 1,400 workers were involved in the construction over an eight-year period, reflecting the monumental scale of this project.

As one of the world's largest steel arch bridges, the Sydney Harbour Bridge spans 1,149 meters (3,770 feet) in length, with an arch span of 503 meters (1,650 feet). The apex of the arch towers 134 meters (440 feet) above the harbor and accommodates rail, vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic.

Beyond its functional role, the Sydney Harbour Bridge has ascended as an internationally renowned symbol of both Sydney and Australia. It takes center stage in major events, most notably the annual New Year's Eve fireworks display, attracting thousands of spectators annually. The bridge climb, offering the opportunity to walk across its upper arch, has become a highly sought-after experience for tourists, providing unparalleled views of the city and harbor.
